Dr Nick Sangala (R) – Consultant Nephrologist, Wessex AHSN & Founder of MyRenalCare App with Sanome Founder & CEO Benedikt von Thüngen (L) discussing digital health and app support

The Healthcare Excellence Through Technology event 2023, provided the Sanome BD team with the rare opportunity to soak up vast expert knowledge sharing, along with more informal catch-ups with our clinical and commercial colleagues. We concluded several times over, that the current dis-jointed system is doing more harm than good, regulation is essential but must be looked at more closely alongside pilots and trials, and finally – there is some very very cool tech entering the space led by some incredible minds we are fortunate to be innovating alongside with the shared mission of Changing Healthcare.

Memorable speaker moments across the conference included James Freed, “70% failure rate in digital initiatives” find that the biggest contributing factor to the failure is “working in silos”.

“People solve the problem they thought existed, not the problem that is actually there” – James Freed, Deputy Director for NHS England’s Digital Academy.

“Interoperability is key, we can’t be dealing with oh I’m sorry that’s the wrong adapter for my plug” – Andrew Barlow, West Hertfordshire.
